Why This Coast

Jeju's summer coastline is defined by contrast: pale sand and blue-green shallows meet black basalt, exposed headlands and wave-shaped volcanic rock. The route looks at those changes from beaches, coastal paths and the deck of a yacht, giving travellers several perspectives on the island's coastal landscape.

The programme keeps two nights in eastern Jeju before moving south. The yacht sails on Day 2 rather than the final morning, so the tuff cone, Haenyeo Museum, forest and southern basalt columns remain part of the programme if sea conditions affect sailing.

Coastal Moments

Basalt Seen from the Water

From the yacht, travellers see the dark volcanic shoreline from sea level, with low rock edges set directly against the blue-green water. It provides a different perspective from the coastal viewpoints used elsewhere in the programme.

A Working Sea Culture

The Haenyeo Museum brings diving equipment, household economy and village organisation together. It explains why breath-hold diving is more than an occupation and gives the coastline a direct human and economic context, without depending on active divers being visible on the day.

Shade Beyond the Shore

Saryeoni changes the physical rhythm of the programme. A selected forest section beneath tall trees provides shade during the hotter part of the day, showing another side of Jeju's volcanic landscape away from the coast.

DAY 1

First Contact with the Coast

Gimnyeong BeachBegin with pale sand, shallow blue-green water and dark volcanic shoreline, introducing north-eastern Jeju's coastal colours and geology at walking pace.
Seongsan IlchulbongUse the gentler free coastal section to view the tuff cone formed where volcanic activity met shallow seawater, without taking the steep, stepped summit route.

DAY 2

Sea Level and Sea Culture

Gimnyeong Yacht TourSail from the north-east coast for a sea-level view of Jeju's low volcanic shoreline. Sailing is subject to weather and sea conditions on the day.
Jeju Haenyeo MuseumExplore the tools, labour, household economy and community structure behind Jeju's breath-hold diving culture before returning to the nearby working coast.

DAY 3

From Forest to Columns

Saryeoni Forest TrailWalk a selected shaded section beneath Japanese cedar and broadleaf canopy, with the turnaround point adjusted to weather, access conditions and the group's walking profile.
Jusangjeolli CliffView the hexagonal basalt columns from the coastal deck, comparing their vertical structure with the lower volcanic rock edges seen earlier around north-eastern Gimnyeong.

Overnight: Seogwipo

DAY 4

The Western Colour Shift

Hyeopjae BeachFinish with pale sand, shallow water and Biyangdo offshore, contrasting with the darker volcanic edges and headlands seen over the previous three days.
Jeju to departureTransfer to the airport or connect with the next Korea programme, with the final coastal stop scheduled around the confirmed flight time.
