Each stage contrasts with the one before it. Travellers begin with a temple stay beside the East Sea, including Baru Gongyang and an overnight within the temple grounds, then exchange the quieter coastal setting for a sustained mountain walk on Seoraksan. The programme reads one region through temple life, physical effort and recovery rather than as three unrelated stops.
The order also makes practical sense. The Ulsanbawi return hike covers 8.5 km and 610 metres of ascent, surveyed on the ground by our own team. It is a full return hike with a steep upper section rather than a short scenic stop. Placing Cheoksan after the descent gives the mountain day a clear recovery point, while the Sokcho coast provides a level and flexible final morning before the return to Seoul.
